Dharamsala Jan. 05 – The construction of 27 new border roads is likely to commence on May 1, 2009.

According to a report by Assam Tribune, India’s Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that Instructions have been issued to complete the preparatory and mobilization work, including preparing the Detailed Project Reports so that work can begin on time.

The roads considered strategic are to be built in Arunachal Pradesh and is seen as an attempt by Government of India to catch up with the infrastructure development works taken up by China in Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), across the border.
