New York, Nov 29, 2008 — Twenty-Seven representatives from seven Regional Tibetan Youth Congress chapters in North America converged in New York city for a two-day Governing Body Meeting. This is the 8th meeting of its kind. President of the Tibetan Youth Congress Tsewang Rigzin was the Chief Guest and moderator of the meeting.
During the meeting, the representatives discussed strategies and plans to mobilize the Tibetan Independence movement in North America.
Observing the 50th Tibetan National Uprising Day on a grand scale was also an agenda at the meeting.
RTYC New York president Tsering Palden said that the importance of the Tibetan freedom struggle was clearly visible from the various suggestions made by the North American RTYC representatives.
“On the positive side, it was noticed that most of the representatives were youth. Their representation indicated continuation of our freedom struggle. Tibetan freedom struggle is a just cause. Truth is on our side.”
