Paris, October 26 – In collaboration with the Tibetan Community of France, the city of St. Gratien, north of the French capital, has organised a ten-day Tibet awareness programme, that kicked off this weekend. The event is supported by Maison du Tibet, Paris.
The programme started with a discussion on the topic, “What are Tibet’s prospects (for future)” by Thupten Gyatso, president of the Tibetan Community here. A photo exhibition title, ‘A Look at Tibet”, highlighting the history of Tibet (since the invasion by China in 1949 to date), its people and the Chinese military repression against the civilian population Tibetan following the events of March 2008.
“3 travel books on Tibetan culture, daily life and school”, an exhibition concept by three classes in partnership with the Library of Motordu and Marie Kyprianou, illustrator of children books is also planned with ‘Tibetan Tales for Children’. Workshop was also to introduce Tibetan calligraphy on Saturday.
“Dances from the Land of Snows’ on Saturday, wowed the full auditorium. The Mayor of the city was also present.
“The response from the people of St. Gratien has been overwhelming,” said Maud Alejandro, city’s cultural affairs director.
We hope that we can organise future events together and that the friendship between Tibet and the city of S. Gratien will continue to grow”, said Thupten Gyatso.
The events will conclude on 13 November.
