Tibetan Hotel Adjudged Hotel of the Year

Dharamshala, September 29- The Hotel Tibet Gangtok has been awarded the prestigious ‘Best Hotel of the State’ for year the 2008. Talking to Phayul, Tsering Dorjee, the Deputy General Manager of the Hotel, said that the award was given on September 27 by Sikkim Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Kumar Chamling in the presense of Shri Takarpa, Honorable Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha), and Shri R B Subba, Tourism Minister (Sikkim). Also present at the award ceremony were many representatives from various hotel associations, and travel agents.

Hotel Tibet Gangtok is a under the management of the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India Limited which took over the ownership of the hotel run by the Tibetan government in exile after the privatization drive of the Tibetan cabinet (Kashag).

The Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India Limited is a group formed of various Tibetan Cooperative Societies of the Tibetan settlements in India. The same group also runs Hotel Tibet, Mcloed Ganj.

The Hotel Tibet, Gangtok, had earlier won the Best Hotel Award from the Indian Ministry of Tourism for 1995-1996.
