Dharamshala, September 16 – Phayul has received a copy of the letter that Kasur Lodi Gyari has sent on September 11, 2008, to Joseph K Grieboski the President of the Institute on Religion and Public Policy. The letter states the Tibetan diplomat’s inability to attend the dinner event with Chinese religious leaders was due to another important engagement that day. According to the letter, Kasur Lodi Gyari had sent a Tibetan scholar named Pema Wangyal in his place for the event.
If the letter is anything to go by, Kasur Gyari had not attended the dinner event because he had to lead a memorial service for the Dalai Lama’s brother Taktser Rinpoche, who breathed his last September 5, 2008, and not because his invitation was canceled at the last minute.
