Dharamshala, September 11 – Two Tibetan women are attending the Point of Peace Summit in Norwegian capital Oslo. The 3-day Summit started yesterday and will end tomorrow. Chugdak Koren, a former Tibetan diplomat and leader of the Norwegian Tibet Committee, and Tenzin Peldon, Editor of the Voice of Tibet radio service, represent Tibet at the Summit that ‘aspires to advance the core concerns of the Nobel Peace Laureates and international experts and to influence the processes of policy making, nationally and internationally, in order to make systemic change.’
Tenzin Peldon will talk on “The Challenge of Informing the Public” tomorrow at the Summit. The Summit will also discuss issues of Global Warming, Human Security post 9/11.
Peldon is in Norway also to attend the meeting of International Association of Women in Radio and Television from 10-18 September. She is a member of the association.
Crown Prince of Norway His Royal Highness Haakon Magnus will be present at the opening of the Summit. Numerous domestic and international experts and dignitaries will attend the Summit, including Nobel Peace Laureates Mairead Maguire, (1976) and H.E. Kim Dae-Jung (2000)and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the international Art of Living Foundation.
The Summit is organized by Point of Peace, a Human rights and Media organization, working in partnership with the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize with communications, in their home countries and internationally. Point of Peace is based in Stavanger, Norway.
