New York – Just hours before the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games members of Students for a Free Tibet and the Tibetan Youth Congress of NY and NJ projected on the facade of the Chinese Consulate in New York City.
At around 11:00pm the group began projecting images of the popular Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule earlier this year as well as images of the victims of China’s crackdown in Tibet. Images of the Tibetan flag and other symbols were also projected.
The projection was followed by a candle light vigil and a singing of the Tibetan National Anthem.
The protest joins people of conscience around the world in a festival of protest and nonviolent direct action during the Beijing Games demanding freedom and human rights for Tibet.
