District level Himalayan Parivaar formed in Arunachal Pradesh

Dharamshala: The Himalayan Parivar, an association of people belonging to Himalayan regions of India, which aims to rally support for Tibet, has formed its new district level organisation in Boomdila, West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh.

Kiren Rijiju, member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh made the declaration on the occasion of 73rd birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 6 July in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh.

On the invitation of district Himalaya Parivaar, Ven Lopon Sonam Tenphel, member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, attended the function as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Ven Tenphel thanked Himalaya Parivaar for their constant efforts in supporting the just cause of Tibet issue and appealed to continue to extend support in the future.

Dr Kuldeep chand Agnihotri, national convener of Bharat Tibet Sahayog Manch, New Delhi, Dr Rajbirsingh Solanki, convener Himalaya Parivaar, New Delhi and other dignitaries were also present.

They expressed full support for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Middle Way Approach in resolving the issue of Tibet.

In the morning, Lopon Sonam Tenphel attended the official function to mark the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, organized by Boomdila Tibetan Settlement office. In his address, he read out the statement of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile to a gathering of some 2000 people, consisting of both Tibetans and local Indians.

Tsultrim Dorjee, representative of Boomdila Tibetan Settlement, narrated the English volume of Auto Biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Other officials, including vice-chairman and secretary of district Himalaya Parivaar, local MLAs, district commissioner, president of co-operative society, director of Tamang cultural association, attended the function.
