Chandigarh, June 29 – The All-India Tibet Support Groups conference today urged the United Nations to organise an emergency session of the Security Council to look into the demands of Tibet.
It also requested the Human Rights Commission to visit Tibet including the monasteries and the prisons.
It also asked the UN General Assembly to discuss Tibet and take effective steps for dialogue between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese authorities.
They maintained that their commitment to the cause of Tibet is going to become stronger with every act of repression by the Chinese authorities.
They expressed their support to the Tibet Mukti Sadan and made it clear that Tibetans are not alone in their quest for justice and dignity in spite of tremendous pressure of the Chinese regime upon the world community for ignoring the their cause.
The groups saluted the Tibetans for their courage and sacrifice in the face of brutalities and repression by the Chinese forces since March 10.
The convention stated that the Chinese authorities have killed over 200 and detained more than 5,000 Tibetan men and women in the name of creating a conducive atmosphere for holding the Olympics.
The members urged the Indian government to play a constructive role for dialogue between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese authorities as without swaraj in Tibet, Indian territories in the Himalayan region will not be secure.
