New Delhi, June 12 – After authorities allowed marchers to resume their peaceful march further towards the Tibetan border, 50 marchers along with their leaders are now treading towards Dharchula, one of the last Indian townships before reaching the Tibetan border. Covering an average of 20 kilometers a day, the marchers are expected to enter Dharchula on 17th June prior to the Olympic torch’s arrival in Lhasa, Tibet.
The 265 detained marchers who were earlier transported to Paonta Sahib, at the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been released. There is no confirmation yet whether they will re-join their group and go ahead with the march.
Obstacles are inevitable as the marchers draw closer to the Indo-Tibet border. Authorities are monitoring and scrutinizing every action of the marchers.
