New Delhi, April 14 – More than two hundred marchers of the ‘Return March to Tibet’, who reached New Delhi on April 10, are sitting on a 24-hour chain hunger strike going on at Jantar Mantar.

Black flags around the site explain the hunger strikers’ resentment against the brutal crackdown and the unending torment on the Tibetan people by Chinese authorities in Tibet.

Five hundred Butter Lamps, lit every day for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace, are a grim reminder that Tibetans are mercilessly killed in Tibet for their peaceful demonstration.

The peaceful aura of the place with the reverberating Buddhist chants defied the feelings of the hunger strikers who were disturbed and pressured because they were not able to act upon their resolve of returning back to Tibet.

“We are looking forward to continuing our march” said a monk and added that he is determined because it is his dream that he hopes will soon be realized.

There was an assured look of promise in the eyes of the people. It was a promise to uphold their demands and make it clear to the world that they won’t be backing down.

in Jantar Mantar the five rings of the Olympics games was painted on the street symbolizing the rings of torture, murder, execution, pain and agony of the Tibetans suffering under the Chinese military regime.

With the Olympic torch relay coming to India on the 17th of this month, the Tibetan Solidarity Committee members are determined to make their voices, on behalf of the suppressed ones inside Tibet, heard in India and elsewhere.
