Shimla commemorates 49th Tibetan National Uprising Day

March 10 – The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Shimla commemorated the 49th Tibetan National Uprising day. Around 400 Tibetans (Excluding students of CST) gathered to commemorate the day and to pay their homage to all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Tibetan freedom struggle.

The procession commenced from the Regional High Court at around 3.p.m. The demonstrators raising slogans for ‘Free Tibet; ‘China Quit Tibet’; ‘Long Live HH the Dalai Lama’ and many more walked for two hours via the DC Office and SP Office and culminated at the Sher-e-Punjab Restaurant.

The gathering was then addressed by many dignitaries including members of the Regional Bharat Tibbat Matreyi Sangh and the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch. In their speech they highlighted the violation of human rights in Tibet by the Chinese Authorities. Giving special emphasis to the Beijing Olympic Games, they stated that the Chinese Government has no right to organize such an event as they not only violate the basic human rights in Tibet but is also a threat to the world as a whole.

Statements in Hindi and English were read out by the members of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Shimla. The procession ended with prayers.
