Trichy (Tamil Nadu), March 04: 31 Tibetan students under the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Trichy, India (RTYC – Trichy, TN), organized a three-day exhibition on Tibet in this south Indian city.

The exhibition to spread Tibet awareness among Indian people was also aimed at establishing a good and steady relationship with the local dwellers.

The chief guest of the exhibition, Mr K N Nehru, the transport Minister of Tamil Nadu State, inaugurated the exhibition that began at 4:00 pm on Sunday.

Members of the RTYC were delighted to see so many visitors turning up during the three-day exhibition.

A place where the name “Tibet” never coined in the ears of many people, Tibet exhibition seems to be a wonderful eye-opening experience.

“Tibet, for many of them, is an alien nation. Some even conceive His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a martial arts master like those typical characters we witness in Chinese action movies,” a member of the RTYC told Phayul.

With a mix of Tibetan music and flavour of the burning Tibetan incense floating in the air, the organisers said they made every effort to create a pure Tibetan atmosphere for the visitors.

The association members also spent number of days collecting information and knowledge of each of the items and various subjects that were put on display during the exhibition.

“Through the exhibition, all our members gave an insight to the visitors on Tibet and the plight of Tibetan people,” said RTYC’s general secretary Mr Lhakpa Tsering. “Many of the visitors even expressed their solidarity and morale support to us after seeing the exhibition,” he added.

In the exhibition’s guest book, M.J.G. Raj, a visitor, has written “We express our solidarity with the feelings of Tibetan Youth and wish the longing freedom of their nation may become a reality soon”.

Mr Lhakpa also said that the regional chapter also received gestures from some influential persons to help organize programmes related to Tibet issue in the near future.

Faculty members of Trichy Plus, a local coaching institute for competitive exams, have requested the association members to spare a Sunday to make a presentation on Tibet in its assembly.
