Dharamsala, September 7: A brief yet special farewell tea session was held today in the Tibetan Parliament office in honour of Mr Bharat Khera, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Kangra.
During his term as the Deputy Commissioner of the Kangra district for a period of two and a half years, Mr Khera has worked and interacted closely with Tibetan administration and Tibetan community in general.
Mr Bharat was accompanied by his wife and was received by Mrs Gyari Dolma, the Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Assembly and other Assembly members.
“In my two and a half years’ tenure here, I have had many positive interactions with Tibetan leaders and community heads” Mr Khera said adding “I am privileged to be here and I have become very familiar with Tibetan way of life now”.
“Having His Holiness in Dharamsala is a blessing for us and sitting with Prof. Rinpoche and learning more about India from him have been a great experience” Mr Khera said.
Speaking to Tibetan Assembly members and Tibetan media, Mr Khera said “I have personally developed a strong bond with Tibetan people, and this affinity will remain at all times”.
“I am looking forward to more and more such positive interactions and cooperation in different capacities” he says.
“With your positive suggestion, support and cooperation, we have been able to implement a lot of positive projects in McLeod Ganj” Mr Khera told the gathering, exalting over the overall infrastructural improvements initiated in and around upper Dharamsala during his tenure.
Stressing on the need to develop a spirit of brotherhood between Tibetan and Indian community, he said, “Indians in general love Tibetans and Tibetans love Indian people as well.”
Mrs Gyari Dolma later presented Tibetan ceremonial scarves and token gifts to Mr and Mrs Khera.
