Sonepat (Haryana), August 17: Tibetan Prime Minister in exile [Tib: Kalon Tripa] Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche today inaugurated a new chapter of Youth Liberation Front of Tibet (YLFT) at Sonepat in India’s Haryana state.

A group of young Indian Tibet supporters in Haryana added another new chapter to YLFT’s growing network in India.

YLFT as an Indian support group for Tibet started in 2006. With their grass-root campaign among the Indian populace themed – “Why Indians Should Support Tibet?” the pro-Tibet group is already experiencing a rapid growth in its network in rural areas of Haryana

YLFT inaugurated the opening of their Sonepat chapter with a Seminar and had the Tibetan PM as the chief guest of the event.

While addressing the gathering of 100 people who had come from Katewara, Rohtak and other parts of Haryana, Kalon Tripa spoke on the pre 1951 borders between India and Tibet when there was no need of Border Patrol. With China’s illegal annexation of Tibet, India today has to spend an estimated 6 crore rupees a day to defend its border.

Kalon Tripa also raised concern over the exploitation of mineral deposits by foreign mining companies in Tibet and its effect on the delicate environment of Tibet.

Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche also spoke on the need of more Indian youths to take part in the movement to support the just cause of Tibet.

Narendra Choudhury, President of YLFT, while speaking on the importance of the long standing Indo–Tibet friendship, stressed on the duty of every Indian to fight for Tibet’s just cause and, for the freedom and dignity of Tibetan people.

Ven.Ngawang Woeber, President of Gu-Chu-Shum Movement of Tibet, Ms Tenchoe from Students for a Free Tibet (India), ITSN South Asia coordinator Choedup Tsering, and Mr Shibayan Raha of Friends of Tibet were present as the Guests of Honour.

India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), based in Delhi, coordinated the whole programme and distributed Tibet related materials in Hindi.
