BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Tibetan Cultural Center, nearly in foreclosure two years ago, is now debt free, its leaders said today.
A group of about five donors have come forward to erase the debt, said Sudha Koneru, the center’s treasurer. The names of the benefactors were not released.
The announcement comes two months before the scheduled visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
“It is a big burden taken off,” said Arjia Rinpoche, the center’s director.
The Dalai Lama is spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists around the world and has visited Bloomington several times, where his brother is a retired IU faculty member.
