August 8, 2007 marks the One Year Countdown to the opening ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
For the Chinese Government, this is a symbolic moment to promote its Olympics propaganda and show a rosy picture of China and the occupied Tibet to the outside world.
For Tibetans and their supporters worldwide, August 8, 2007 will mark the beginning of a massive International Day of Action for Tibet.
On this day, Tibetans and supporters, under the Team Tibet banner, are desperate to expose China’s Olympics lies and take the message of Free Tibet 2008 to Chinese Embassies and Consulates worldwide.
Following is one such calls made by a Tibet supporter that was publsihed on www.indybay.org
Day of Action for Tibet

Join us for an international Day of Action for Tibet! We will rally and march in support of Tibetan liberation on the one year pre-anniversary of the start of the Beijing ’08 Olympic Games! We will meet at 11 am on 8/8 at the Civic Center BART station before marching to City Hall on the way to the Chinese consulate at Laguna and Geary.
San Francisco is set to be the only city in North America to host the Olympic Torch on its way around the world- and the torch relay is already predicted to be the most widely watched event in the history of humanity.
China is using the 2008 Olympic Games and the torch run to try to gain tacit international approval for their cruel military occupation of Tibet- and the Mayor of SF has said “human rights are irrelevant to the games”. We would like to tell him otherwise, as we join others around the world rallying at Chinese embassies and consulates on this day.
So, we will be gathering at the Civic Center BART station at 11:00 am on 8/8 and will march to City Hall with banners, stilts and other antics on our way to the consulate at Geary and Laguna. We expect the media to be very responsive.
