Tibetans in Musoorie led by its regional Tibetan Youth Congress body held candle light vigil in a move to express solidarity with the fourteen Tibetans undergoing indefinite hunger strike in the Indian capital of New Delhi.

Musoorie: Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) took out a candle light vigil here earlier on Thursday this week.

The organisers called the rally as a solidarity move to support the fourteen brave Tibetans undergoing an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi that began on July 8. The introductory speech by the RTYC president, Mr Phurbu Tsering, highlighted the motives of organizing the rally.

The march began from Happy Valley and passed through Charlie Ville, Library, Rope Way point, Picture Palace and finally culminated at the Library Chowk. Bearing anti-Chinese placards and faces painted with Tibetan National flag hundreds of students from Tibetan Homes Foundation and Central School for Tibetans, Mussoorie, and local Tibetans took part in the march.

Addressing the short conclusion session at the Library Chowk, the General Secretary of RTYC Mr Tsering Paljor explained the gathering, especially the Indian public about the ongoing TYC led Mass People’s Movement.

Tibetan Youth Congress led indefinite Hunger Strike in Delhi is part of the Organisation’s larger Tibetan Mass People’s Movement due to gain massive momentum next month beginning August 8.

Prayers upholding the fourteen hunger-strikers concluded the evening event here.

August 8, 2007 has been targeted as the “International Action Day for Tibet” by major Tibet Support Groups worldwide. On this very day next year, the Olympic Games will begin in Beijing. Tibetan activist, major Tibetan organisations and Tibet support groups all over the world are set to initiate a major drive to highlight the plight of Tibetan people and campaign for the inclusion of “Team Tibet” in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.

A campaign to bring Team Tibet to the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing is seen by many pro-Tibet organisations as being more pragmatic in approach than calling for the total boycott of the games.

Critics, Tibetan activists and rights groups continue to condemn the International Olympics Committee (IOC) of its decision to hold 2008 Olympics in Beijing inspite of the Communist Regime’s uncompromising Human Rights record in Tibet and other regions under China.

However, there are others who see the Olympics event in China as a never before platform to expose the real Communist China. The Beijing regime on the other hand is doing everything to ensure that the 2008 Games do not turn into an embarrassing experience.
