New Zealand: The ‘Friends of Tibet’ movement in Wellington say it is disappointed that the Prime Minister has chosen to bow to Chinese pressure and snub the Dalai Lama.
The Buddhist leader from Tibet is in the capital today and will meet several political leaders, but Helen Clark has decided not to meet him formally.
They did however have what was said to be a brief, chance meeting in Brisbane last week.
Jack Morris from ‘Friends of Tibet’ says although a trade agreement with China is important to New Zealand, so is supporting the people of Tibet.
