Radio Tibet Toronto started broadcasting in Tibetan on Saturday, June 2, 2007 on FM 101.3 in Toronto. The broadcast was made available through the Canadian Multicultural Radio (CMR). The broadcast time is every Saturday from 7:00 am to 7:30 am

Radio Tibet Toronto was founded by Sonam Wangchuk of Sonam Entertainment and Ugyen Norbu, a long time Tibetan radio journalist and a media graduate from University at Buffalo.

Both of them will be responsible for the program content and design of the weekend half hour program. Ugyen Norbu will host the program.

The program structure includes a short review of the week’s Tibet related news from around the world. It will include news about H.H. The Dalai Lama and Tibetans in and outside Tibet.

Various Tibetan music and songs will be played on the station along with plans for future call-in shows and live chats.

Radio Tibet Toronto will work towards a community and entertainment oriented program reflecting a sense of community and culture to the Tibetan audience. As such, community support and involvement will be the bedrock of this new venture.
