CHICAGO – Long lines formed outside Chicago’s Harris Theater this morning as Buddhist devotees and well-wishers of the Dalai Lama waited to hear a speech by the exiled spiritual and political leader of Tibet.

Among those were Buddhist monks dressed in maroon and saffron-colored robes and women in traditional Tibetan dresses.

The Dalai Lama is expected to continue calling for Tibetan autonomy today in Chicago. It’s the final stop on a 12-day cross-country tour.

Thousands are expected to hear the Dalai Lama deliver a talk on Buddhist spirituality at Millennium Park.

The 71-year-old is also slated to speak about finding inner peace later in the day.

After speaking in Chicago, the Dalai Lama is scheduled to travel to Australia.
