Bringing Mcleod back to normal

Mcleodganj: May 04: Buddhist learning centre Mcleodganj remained tense for the second consecutive day as the Tibetan community boycotted Taxi and auto services apart from closing shops and business establishments in protest.

In a fresh incidence, over four taxis were reportedly damaged in an attack by some miscreants last night although nothing can be said whether the occurrence is linked to the earlier incidence.

In order to restore back to normal situation; District Administration, including police authorities convened a meeting at Bhagsu Hotel here this evening.

In the meeting, both the communities were asked to cooperate in maintaining peace in the area. Superintendent of Police, Dharamsala, Mr Ajay Yadav asked the members of both the communities to abide by law of the land and also announced that strict action would be taken against those indulging in unlawful activities.

Near about 180 people from both the communities attended this meeting and agreed to bring about a peaceful solution by forming special committees to strictly deal with problems such as the one that occurred on the Wednesday night.

The representatives of Tibetan Government-in-Exile; ATPTD member Dawa Tsering, Welfare Officer Mr Sonam and Home Secretary Mr Lodup, directed the members of the exile community to cooperate with the authorities in restoring the situation. Local beopar mandal members, Autorikshaw and taxi union representatives and members of different NGOs asked the locals to cooperate the exile community as well as authorities.
