The Vice President, Mr Lobsang Yeshi and the International Affairs Secretary, Mr Sherab Woeser of Tibetan Youth Congress, visited Chauntra Tibetan Settlement on Sunday the 22nd April and addressed the gathering of the people of the settlement.
The visit is a part of the resolutions of the General Body Meetings of Tibetan Youth Congress to cover the entire regional chapters and oversee the functioning, activities, and report of the RTYCs and address the members and the people of the various settlements on the Tibetan Freedom Struggle in general and various other current issues related with the struggle.
The duo arrived in Chauntra Settlement around 10.30 am and were received by the RTYC executive members including President Mr. Yeshi Thinley, Vice President Ms. Tsering Paldon and Former President Mr. Yougyal La and other members and the residents of the Settlement. Later they addressed the gathering of Chauntra people at the Settlement Community Hall. After a brief introduction by the President of RTYC Chauntra, Mr Sherab Woeser spoke to the gathering about the importance of Tibetan Freedom Struggle and emphasised on the role of the entire Tibetan in the ongoing Tibetan struggle.
Besides thanking the people of Chauntra; many of whom had actually been a part of the active Tibetan resistance movement against the People’s Liberation Army of China and faced the Chinese bayonets with the shield of patriotism and the supreme love for one’s land, Mr Sherab also spoke on the impending challenges facing the Tibetan struggle and the community and the role that each and every common Tibetan can play in collectively facing those challenges. Giving reference of the speeches of His Holiness The Dalai Lama to TYC, he reminded the grass-root members of TYC of the immense faith, hope and confidence that His Holiness and the people of Tibet post on TYC and the need of the members of TYC to heed to their call. Mr Sherab further solicited the need to brace up our attitude and commitment towards our struggle and be ready in soul and body to bequeath everything to answer the call of our nation.
This was followed by a talk by Mr Lobsang Yeshi who spoke on the importance of Tibetan freedom struggle, the role and activities of TYC, people’s responsibility and participation in the Tibetan freedom struggle and China’s atrocities and repression inside Tibet etc. He further urged the people to keep abreast of the developments in the Tibetan Freedom struggle and to participate in the struggle with much sincerity, sacrifice and dedication. He also stressed on the need to synergise the Tibetan Movement with an all-out effort from the entire Tibetans. He further delved into the current profound crisis that ails China into an imminent collapse.
Later a luncheon meeting was hosted for the delegates during which the regional executives apprised the Vice President and the International Affairs Secretary of the matters concerning the RTYC and its activities, Youths and the Chauntra settlement in general.
Earlier this year, Mr Lobsang Yeshi and Mr Sherab Woeser had paid a month long visit to meet the Tibetan college students in 12 different cities in India namely Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Mangalore, Baroda, Trivandrum and Dharwad.
This week Mr Lobsang Yeshi and Mr Sherab Woeser will be visiting Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement, Nainital, Solan and Simla etc. Mr Sherab Woeser accompanied by Public Relation Officer, Mr Tsering Dondup are also scheduled to visit Srinagar, Ladakh, Pondoh, Manali in the next month.
TYC President Mr Kalsang Phuntsok and Information Secretary Mr Dondup Dorjee had earlier this month visited Tibetan Settlements of Mainpat and Orissa State.
