Coonoor, April 21 – Tibetans in Udhagamandalam have decided to close their shops, selling garments and sweaters, tomorrow to protest against the arrival of the Chinese delegation to discuss the border issue here.

Tibetans, who are refugees, have set up 70 shops on Garden Road, near the famous Botanical Gardens here.

A Chinese delegation led by Dai Bingguo is here to discuss the contentious border issue with the Indian special representative, M K Narayanan.

Talking to reporters, Tibetan Refugees Welfare Association, President, Paljor, said that police had refused permission to them to hold a black flag demonstration against the Chinese delegation’s visit.

“So we have decided to close our shops to register our protest,” he said.
