New York March 22- The much talked about film “Dreaming Lhasa” made by the filmmaking couple Tenzing Sonam and Ritu Sarin will be released in New York on April 13th, according to a letter from the filmmakers. The film will run at ImaginAsia theatre situated at 239 East 59th Street (bet. 2nd and 3rd Avenues). The couple will be in New York for the openning.

The film will be shown for a week at these times, 1PM, 5.30PM and 7.30 PM.

The film was shot in the locales of Dharamshala, Dehradun, Delhi and Jaipur.

“As a film that provides a unique and personal insight into the lives of Tibetans today, it will appeal to anyone who is interested in Tibet, its people and its culture. At the same time, as a story that touches upon the universal issues of exile, identity, loss and love, the film has resonances beyond just the Tibetan experience. All exiles, indeed, all immigrants, face the same dilemmas; the confusion of dislocation, the paradox of simultaneously belonging to different worlds and cultures without having a solid anchor anywhere. And in this regard, we believe the film will also be of interest to a much wider audience,” the letter read.

The couple had made documentary films on Tibet related issues. “Dreaming Lhasa” is their first feature film”.

The film will then tour a few other places in the US like Chicago, Honolulu, Seattle, Santa Fe, Boston, Atlanta and San Rafael, California.

The film had won accolades in several film festivals around the world.
