Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Toronto organized this weeklong protest to reenergize the Tibetans and its supporters to move forward and fight for the truth and the justice. Be the voice for the voiceless and take this week long “Free Tibet” campaign from 4th to March 10th to let the world learn about those Tibetans who are still suffering under the Red Chinese brutal oppression.
The fifth day of the “Free Tibet Action Week” is the proof that Tibet is cared by all the Tibetans. When seen with over flowing supporters showing their solidarity and concern has brought an encouragement for the participants and the organizers as a whole. We extend our hearty thanks to all the people who had gathered and shown their enthusiasm in making the action week a successful event.
Mr. Mehmet Tohti, the President of the Ughur Canadian Association, attended the “Free Tibet Action Week” to show his solidarity and support for the Tibetans inside and outside of Tibet. Dokham Chuchi Gangdruk’s Ms. Sherap Aathytsang also expressed her gratitude in making the FTAW possible and extended greetings by offering khataks to all the participants and the organizers for sacrificing their precious time in making this movement.
Lots of tourist from the mainland China flowed in right where our protest was taking place. It was a perfect time to send our message to their ears and we did succeed in letting them know that we are still fighting for our freedom “RANGZEN” and we won’t give up until we succeed. The main purpose of the “Free Tibet Action Week” is to call on the Canadian government to pressure Communist China on these demands: to have unconditional dialogue between the President Hu Jintao and His Holiness the Dalai Lama; to release all the political prisoners including the Tibet’s Panchen Lama and Tulku Tenzin Delek without any preconditions; IOC to rescind the hosting of 2008 Olympics by China because of the ongoing human rights violation in Tibet.
Everyone chanted prayers all day long and listened to His Holiness’s teachings. The weather has warmed up a bit compared to the last few days which was freezing cold and snowing. It was amazing to see the participants’ dedication and determination. As the chairman, Mr. Phurbu Tsering la, mentioned “in some countries, if you want to do something, you are not allowed, but over here we are permitted to carry out activities such as
our campaign”. Hence, we have to take action. We have to organize these events occasionally to remind those fellow Tibetans who are self-absorbed, hopeless and who tend to forget our responsibly to reenergize restoring our country “Tibet”.
Mr. Tenzin Yeshi la announced the name lists of sponsors whose generosity made us run this action week smoothly and positively. The Chairman, Mr. Phurbu la thanked everyone on behalf of Toronto Tibetan Youth Congress and the Tibetan National Anthem was sung at the end.
