A high level delegation of an Indian Members of Parliament will visit Dharamsala from 9-10 March 2007. It’s the first time in the history of exile that Indian Members of Parliament will visit Dharamsala to commemorate the 48th Tibetan National Uprising Day.
The first delegates that will depart from Delhi to Dharamsala on 8th March 2007 are Shri. Bashishtha Narain Singh (Samata Parti), Convener of All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet, Shri. Rajesh Kumar Manjhi (RJD), Shri. Thupten Chhewang (UT), Shri. Nakul Das Rai (SDF), Shri. Arun Kumar Sharma (AGP), Shri. O.T. Lepcha (SDF), Shri. Ran Dhar Kashyap (Congress-I).
Shri. George Fernandes former Defense Minister will visit Dharamala on 9th March 2007. Mrs. Dolma Gyari, Deputy Speaker, Tibetan Government-in-Exile will receive Shri. George Fernandes at the Pathankot airport.
The second delegates will depart on 9th are Smt. Pratibha D. Singh (Congress-I), , Shri. Khiren Rijiju (BJP), Shri. Tapir Gao (BJP), Shri. D.N. Sharma (Congress-I), Shri. Jayaben Thakker (BJP), Shri. Ramachandra Paswan (LS), Shri. Vijay Krishna (RJD), Shri. K. Battacharjea (Congress-I), Shri. Ravi Prakash Verma (SP).
The Indian Members of Parliament were invited by the Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile to attend the 48th Tibetan National Uprising Day as a Guest of Honour. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will release a book “Indian Parliament on the issue of Tibet” an issue discussed at Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament from 1952 to 2005.
After the formal program the delegates will have a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his private palace.
