Jaipur holds Intensive Campaign for Tibet meeting

Thursday, 1st February, 2007: The Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch and Himalaya Parivar launched their Rajasthan state’s ‘Intensive Campaign for Tibet’ meeting on the 31st January 2007. This is a series of meetings that they are organizing together. The first launch meeting was organized by the Core Group for Tibet on the 27th of January followed by their meeting on 29th in Delhi.

The programme was held at the Chamber of Commerce hall, Jaipur.

The Chief Guest to the meeting was Shri Gyan Prakash Pilania, a member of Rajya Sabha. Other distinguish guests were Dr. Chandan Mitra, the Chief Editor of the Pioneer and the nominated member of Rajya Sabha; Mr. Suresh Pataudia, Mayor of Jaipur Shri Ashok Parnami; Shri Inderish Kumar, patron BTSM and Himalaya Parivaar; Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause, and Mr. Tsering Dorjee of India Tibet Co-ordination Office (ITCO).

A strong gathering of more than 150 people thronged the meeting that included the presence of some 40 Tibetan sweater sellers.

The Chief Guest Shri Gyan Prakash Pilania released stickers and posters of the year 2007: Intensive Campaign for Tibet. He voiced his concern for his fellow Indians to support Tibet’s cause. He also declared that his support to this cause shall remain unchanged.

Speaking to the public Dr. Chandan Mitra assured his continued support for the Tibetan cause and to disseminate information in media and amongst his fellow media persons.

Mr. Inderish Kumar reaffirmed India’s support to Tibet and appreciated his fellow Indians to focus their campaign on the following three main topics (1) pressurize Indian and Chinese government for a talk between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and China (2) to help restore fundamental human rights in Tibet (3) to facilitate a safe passage for the Tibetans to return back to their own country. Talking on the Tibetan Government-in-Exile’s (TGIE) “Middle-Way Approach” he said that though their organization supports for complete independence for Tibet yet, at the same time he also made it clear that they do understand and support TGIE’s stand.

Mr. Tsering Dorjee on behalf of Tibetan Diaspora appreciated the organizers for their commitment to intensify support and campaign for Tibet and hoped to work together through out the year.
