Agartala, January 18 – Tibetan spiritual leader in exile Dalai Lama has argued that the very concept of formation of the China was based on unity between different ethnic regions as derived from the Chinese language name of the country that wrongly came as ‘Peoples republic of China’. Dalai Lama on third day of his current visit in Tripura made this observation during a public talk function at the city hall on Thursday afternoon.
Chinese hardly followed the Marxism, he opined adding “I make distinction between original Marxism, and that Lenin introduced in Russia with power politics; something like dictatorship.
“I studied Marxism in late 40s and it has some good aspects like economy for benefit of masses. Some people consider Buddhist and Marxist are in same line”, a beaming Dalai Lama stated adding “you can consider me as Buddhist Marxist”.
The Tibetan temporal leader elaborated saying even Tibetan communists in past were discriminated against. They were moved out of Chinese government institutions and facilities like military. Why? “Because Tibetan officials devoted themselves to same Tibetan interests”, he gave the answer.
He however favoured ‘mutual conditions’ to resolve decades old impasse on Tibet. He attended diverse questions from audience on issues including that of political nature and theology for more than two hours. One from the huge gathering asked: will you settle autonomy for Tibet? He did not make a categorical statement that could have serious implication on the touchy issue. He opined present situations were not good for Tibet…could accept mutual conditions.
In following minutes he received questions on Tibet as he clarified the very subject of saving interests of Tibetans was not fighting communism. “We are simply against unjust policy of approach”.
“We are talking without hesitation. No need of propaganda or distorted information campaign like the other side”, he opined while referring a recent incident where Chinese troops inflicted casualties in an attack on innocent Tibetans.
The 14th Dalai Lama in morning addressed a huge gathering mostly Buddhists on ‘Discourse on introduction to Buddhism’ at the main Buddhist temple (Venuban Buddha Bihar) at Agartala. In all proceedings since his arrival he appealed for peace and urging those to shun violence for sake of peace. End
