Agartala, January 16 – Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Tuesday called for peace in Tripura.

“I am delighted to be in Tripura and I pray that the people of this beautiful state live in peace,” he said after his arrival at the airport here on a three-day visit to the state.

He then left for Manubankul in south Tripura by a helicopter where he will inaugurate the fifth foundation day of the Dharmadipa Buddhist school tomorrow.

He will also address a gathering highlighting the various aspects of religion and deliver sermons on Buddhism at Town Hall here on January 18.

Tight security has been made for the Dalai Lama’s visit at Manubankul, official sources said.
