Dharamsala: 10 January: After almost two months of spiritual undertakings covering places in the Indian states of West Bengal and Bihar; Gyalwa Karmapa is due to arrive at Gyuto-Tantric Monastic University today, his temporary residence in Dharamsala, in the Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
Sources from the Central Relation Office of Karmapa have confirmed that Gyalwa Karmapa has already left Delhi this morning and will arrive here later in the evening today.
Karmapa had, towards the end of October last year, left Dharamsala to initiate a series of dharma activities, the most important of all-to preside over the Kagyu Monlam at the Buddhist holy place of Bodhgaya, where the founder of Buddhism Gautam Buddha achieved ‘enlightenment’ some 2500 years ago..
Sources also said that, upon arrival, Karamapa will carry on with his usual routine here, including the public audiences on Wednesday and Saturday every week, which is expected to resume very shortly.
17th in the line of Karmapa order; Gyalwa Karmapa-Ugyen Trinley Dorje, who, on June 26 last year, turned 21, is the spiritual leader of the Kagyu sect, one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Dharamsala is the administrative capital to Tibetans in exile around the world and home to the exiled Tibetan leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Tibetan Government-in-Exile headed by Dalai Lama is based here.
