More than 300 people participated in this human rights rally which was organized by the New York and New Jersey chapter of Tibetan youth congress. On this very important day, Tibetans and supporters of Tibet walked from the borough of Brooklyn towards the United Nation crossing historic Brooklyn bridge and then towards Chinese consulate.
Most distinction of all, we marched inside the populated Chinese migrants called China town with slogans of historically facts matters and distributed flyers on recent Nangpa la incident and the statement from TYC head quarter Dharamsala. Positive trend in participation by our Tibetan youngsters is very encouraging sign and our struggle for Tibetan independence and Tibetan matters will surely be in every Tibetans heart regardless of gender, age and whether in or outside of Tibet. Our fight will be momentous and soon China will pay the price for their own actions.
Speakers from various organizations spoke about the reality of today’s Tibet in front of UN building and in front of Chinese consulate. President of RTYC of NY & NJ gave an introductory remark of the actual day and read out loud the statement of TYC on 58th human rights day. He said “Fighting poverty and implementing human rights law into action and holding accountable to those who violates is not just a matter of choice or an option, but a responsibility and an obligation of the world body United Nations”.
Kala Mendoza a grass root coordinator of students for a free Tibet spoke and also said “China must listen to the voice of six million Tibetans which cries for a free Tibet that echoes through the Tibetan plateaus.” We met lots of cheering and honking supporters throughout our rally and it really shows that slowly and surely people of free world will be on our side. Prior to the actual day, executive members of RTYC and Karma Yeshi la (current Tibetan parliamentarian) had an opportunity to attend a panel discussion on world poverty and human rights abuses. Their we put up a question on seeking justices on appalling human rights condition in Tibet under Chinese occupied Tibet. Many of NGO’s who were present, applauded the question and gave us a standing ovation. That reminds us that we need to work harder as the time passes by.
