Tibetan flags, prayer flags and posters were flown to represent the Tibetan community at the human rights protest on Saturday 18 November 2006.

The protest ran through the centre of Sydney, from Hyde Park to Chinatown, and brought city traffic to a standstill.

There were around five hundred walkers and demonstrators making their voice heard against Chinese oppression of the masses, and was supported by Falun Gong activists, Tibetans, Christians, peace activists, and other concerned citizens, protesting against the criminal detainments of innocent citizens, found guilty only of personal traditional and spiritual beliefs.

To further inflame the situation of invalid detainments, torturing and death sentences imposed on the prisoners, there are now well documented and supported allegation of trade for profit through the harvesting and sale of human organs from these prisoners.

The protest was to raise awareness of this practice. One speaker said, addressing the passing city public, “if you are aware of these atrocities and choose not to become involved, you share the guilt with the perpetrators”.

There will be another protest in one month, which will be supported by the Tibetan community.
