Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) strongly condemning the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to India, an all India Relay Hunger Strike in the national capital was organized since yesterday. The hunger strike will go on till 23rd November when Hu Jintao leaves the country.
Besides hunger strike the week long activity will include candle light vigil, press conferences, prayer meetings, pampheleteering, signature campaigns and protest demostrations. The hunger strike tents adorned with Tibetan National flags and various banners inscribed with anti-Chinese slogans bearing Hu Jintao’s picture has only one appeal for the Indian Government that India and China must go beyond diplomacy and raise the issue of Tibet with the Chinese President.
There also will be rallies, traditional cultural displays, performances by professional musicians, street theatres etc in the coming days which is being organized combinely by the six major Tibetan Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) namely Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA), Friends of Tibet (FOT), Students for Free Tibet (SFT), National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT), Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) and Gu-Chu-Sum Movemnet of Tibet.
Since Chinese have always been the masters of the art of denial and deception, we look forward to the Indian Government to take a fair step and make the best use of this meeting. Chinese President will reach India tomorrow, says a young activist.
