The Youth Liberation Front of Tibet (YLFT) held a peaceful march and led a procession at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi yesterday. This group of marchers represent young Indian friends who came all the way from Katerva region (Delhi border) to mark their protest against the injustice of the Chinese government towards Tibetans and also urging people all over the world to support the cause.
Also present at the procession were members of Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, Delhi (RTWA) and representatives from Gu-Chu-Sum and India-Tibet Coordination (ITCO). A host of Indian as well as Tibetan media personnel were also present there.
Mr. Narendar Chaudary, president of TheYouth Liberation Front of Tibet made his remark before the procession began. He said, ‘India has lived under the Britsh rule for more than 200 years yet India saw its independence therefore 47 years for Tibet to be ruled by China is nothing. Hence Tibet will see its brighter days very soon’.
The solidarity and the support of the young Indian friends were deeply touching. The procession carried banners inscribed with “The Youth Liberation Front of Tibet demands Free Tibet”, Tibetan flags big and small and various placards.
Mr. J.P.Sharma, Co-convener, Delhi region of Co-Group for Tibetan cause delivered an effective speech explicitly supportting the cause of Tibet. He said, ‘ History bears witness to the fact that Tibet was an independent country in the past and despite Chinese major attempt to claim Tibet as a part of China, we Indians know that Tibet had always remained a free country and therefore there is no excaping from the fact.’ He further told his fellow Indians that their only presence in such protest and processions makes a big difference for the Tibetans.
Emphasising and highlighting the case of the disappearance for the past eleven years of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the Eleventh Panchen Lama of Tibet and his parents, Miss. Tsering Deckyi Ratutsang, International P.R.O. for Tibetan Women Association, Dharamsala expressed her deep concern and worry for his whereabouts which still remains unconfirmed. Her last request for the Indian supporters were to continuously support the Tibetan people as before.
The protestors marched till the nearest point to the Indian Parliament House as permitted by the police. As it reached there, the procession stopped and reversed in the same dignity to the initial point. The day was terminated in silence waving gently the flags and banners in the air.
