New Nyingma deputy sworn in

Dharamshala: Consequent to the nomination of incumbent member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile from Nyingma constituency, Tsering Phuntsok, to the 13th Kashag by Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Election Commission in its announcement dated 6 October 2006 declared Venerable Sonam Tenphel to be the new deputy, and directed him to take oath from the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.

Ven. Sonam Tenphel took oath from Speaker T.T Karma Chophel today at the meeting hall of the Standing committee. All the Standing Committee members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile attended the oath taking ceremony.

After the completion of the oath taking ceremony, the new deputy offered prostration and scarf to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Speaker followed by members of the Standing Committee greeted and wished him success in his new responsibility.

Ven. Sonam Tenphel was born in Rikhisung Distict of the Dotoe province and came to exile in the year 1993, and joined Namdroling Nyingma Monastary, Bylakuppee, South India, as a monk. He completed his studies from Shetra School at the Monastary. He is currently serving as a discipline master of the Shetra School.
