Yarlung United 1st Open Badminton Tournament 2006 (Double)

Tsultrim Dorji and Tenzin Chosang of Yarlung United Team ‘A’ became the first team champion of the Yarlung United 1st Open Badminton Tournament 2006 (Double) by beating Palden Namgyal and Dhondup Gyaltsen of Karnor Carpets Team ‘B’ in three sets 13-15, 15-8, 15-7.

Earlier in the semi-finals, the champions Yarlung United Team ‘A’ defeated Karnor Carpets Team ‘A’ by 15-10, 15-5 in straight sets and the other finalist Karnor Carpets Team ‘B’ defeated Ex-Herbert by 15-6, 4-15, 15-13 in a tough third set.

Yarlung United organized the first open badminton doubles tournament for Tibetans in Kathmandu, Nepal at Bull’s Club to promote sports, friendship and good relationship among young Tibetans who are working in different fields and don’t get often chance to interact with each other.

This has been a one day tournament where all the 16 participating teams played from 9Am – 6PM and the champion was decided. The champoins were awarded the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5000 and the runners up were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3000. The 16 participating teams were Diki Cargo, Ex Dalhor, Ex Herbert, Ex Namgyal, Karnor carpets A, B & C, Khampa Camp Sports Club A & B, Lama Arts, Manjugoksha Academy, Netib Carpets, Namgyal High School, TCVAA, Yarlung United A & B.
