Protest rally against killing of Tibetan refugees

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), Regional Tibetan Women Association (RTWA), Gu Chu Sum and around more than 300 Tibetans from Bylakuppe(Tibetan settlement in South India) have jointly organised a huge protest rally from Town hall to Deputy Commissioner Office in Mysore city.

They strongly protested against the gruesome killing of a young nun kelsang Namtso, 17 years old and another 7 years old child by Chinese border patrol force,when they opened fire on over 70 Tibetans who were crossing the Nangpa La pass between Tibet and Nepal. More than 30 members consisting of mostly children were captured and detained by the Chinese and whose whereabouts are still unknown.

The procession commenced at 10.30 in the morning where flock of monks and school children took part in the rally. A memorandum addressed to Mr. Kofi Anan, Secretary General, UNO, was submitted to the Deputy Commisioner (DC) at his office. This protest march will be followed by 24 hours hunger strike by RTYC and RTWA, Gurupura, Hunsur infront of the D.C. office tomorrow.
