A human size doll clad in Tibetan nuns dress is supposed to remind us of the nun Kelsang Namtso, who was shot at during her escape to india with her Tibetan brothers and sisters. Around sixty Tibetans and Tibet friends gathered in front of the Swiss government building, the Bundes Haus, to protest against the ruthless killings.
We dont know whereabouts of the rest of the captured refugees”says Loten Namling, who is the local representative of the newly formed Regional Tibetan Community Association in Bern. The Swiss Foriegn minister Calmey-Rey who is in Beijing for talks with the Chinese counterpart, must raise the issue of Tibet and pressurize the Chinese government to immediately release all the captured prisoners, adds Loten Namling.
With the Candle light vigil in front of the Bundes Haus, the Tibetans in exile wants not only to create awareness of the recent tragic drama on the Nangpala pass, but also of the unfortunate consequences of the Chinese population transfer in Tibet; on Tibetan way of life and their culture, religion, enviroment and education.
For the last fifty years Tibetans have been following the path of non-violence as initiated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Unfortunately Tibetans in Tibet are not even allowed to possess a photo of the Dalai Lama. The young Tibetans are more and more frustrated adds Loten. We cannot be responible if they soon follow the path of voilence, says Loten. The world must pressurise the Chinese goverment to talk directly with the Dalai Lama.
