Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), Oct 18 (IANS) The man behind the Miss Tibet pageant is now planning another event to focus attention on his homeland: Tibetan Olympics.

Lobsang Wangyal, the producer-director of the beauty contest, said the 10-day Olympics would be launched Aug 20, 2008, at Dharamsala, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile.

The event will thus coincide with the Olympics hosted by Beijing.

Among other eligibility conditions, the participants must have a proof of tax payment made to the government-in-exile, though the condition does not apply to applicants from Tibet, Wangyal told IANS.

Application form will be available on the website of the government-in-exile from June 2007.

The Tibetan Olympics will have a customised decathlon including long-distance running, swimming, shooting, archery as well as track and field.

The age limit for participants in the men’s category will be between 16 and 30 years while for women it will be between 15 and 25.

The winner in each of the men’s and women’s categories will get a cash prize of Rs.100,000 ($2,200) while the first and second runners-up will win Rs,50,000 and Rs.25,000 each respectively.
