Delhi, July 12 : The Chinese border police have arrested thirteen Tibetans who were on their way into exile to Nepal. The arrest took place around June 16 evening at a place near Dhingri in western Tibet.

All those arrested were male and in their twenties and early thirties.

Originally, there were 15 Tibetans on the vehicle when it was intercepted by the Chinese border police but 2 persons managed to flee, the Voice of Tibet (VOT) Tibetan radio service reported quoting one of the persons who escaped and made it safely to Kathmandu.

The group seem to have meticulously planned their journey into exile due to security reasons. VOT quoted the source as saying that the group while in Lhasa had hired a vehicle by which they reached Lhatse Dzong without any complications. At Lhatse Dzong, they were asked by their hired guide to use another vehicle for the journey ahead to Nepal. It was only when they had driven few hours from Lhatse Dzong that they were spotted by the Chinese border police in Dhingri district and were subsequently arrested.

There are no reports on the whereabouts of those arrested.
