Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit the kingdom of Jordan to attend the second Petra Conference of the Nobel Laureates beginning on 20 June in Petra. His Holiness also participated in the first conference in Petra in May 2005.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will leave Dharamshala for New Delhi on Saturday, 17 June from where he will proceed to Jordan on 19 June.

Co-hosted by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) and the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, the conference serves as a way to bring the Nobel Laureates together to discuss the problems facing the world today and to come up with new ideas and perspectives.

The Jordan Times reported on 26 April 2006, “Nobel laureates from the six fields in which the Nobel Prize is awarded each year – peace, economics, literature, physics, chemistry, and physiology and medicine – are expected to attend.”

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be back in Dharamshala on 23 June and will confer teachings at the Main Temple here from 24 June to 1 July as requested by the Taiwan-based Tsoknyi Buddhist Centre.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been giving teachings on their request since past eight years.

This year over 300 Buddhists from Taiwan and some Buddhists from Tara Buddhist Centre in Singapore are expected to attend the teachings. Besides the Tibetans and tourists in Dharamshala will also attend the teachings.
