The Dharamsala-based Tibetan Center for Conflict Resolution (TCCR) is organising a 4-day workshop on conflict resolution in the Majnu-ka-Tilla Tibetan settlement in Delhi beginning from today. Fifteen participants are currently enrolled for the workshop that informs and educates on the non-violent means in resolving conflicts in society.
The TCCR workshop includes an interesting mix of role play and healthy interaction between the resource person and the participants; providing hands-on experience and practice on the ways in which conflicts could be resolved peacefully, Sonam Dechen of TCCR said in a report on the Voice of Tibet(VOT) Tibetan radio service.
VOT quoted Sonam as saying that the conflict resolution workshops not only contributed to a peaceful civil society but had the potential to play an important role in a free Tibet as well. She cited numerous conflict resolution workshops held in South Africa as one of the major reasons for a relatively less violent clashes in the South African society after it regained freedom from white rule.
The centre had organised many workshops of similar nature in various Tibetan settlements in the past. All over, the organisers say, the response had been overwhelmingly encouraging.
Inaugurated in 2002, the TCCR is a non-profitable, educational organisation dedicated to the non-violent management of conflicts in the Tibetan Community and the world as a whole. The centre highlights the importance of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan culture and traditions and tries to blend it with Western approaches so that the outcome is a genuine and most appropriate set of tools and skills for the community.
