His Holiness Appreciates Raman’s Provisions for Tibetans

Dharamshala – His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his appreciation to the Chattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Raman Singh for his concerns and promising government aid for the Tibetans settled in Mainpat.

In his message to the Chief Minister, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said. “The assistance and the provision of facilities that you have promised to the residents of the settlement there will be of great benefit. We are extremely grateful to you.”

The Chief Minister made an unannounced visit to various villages in the state as a part of his Gram Suraj campaign. He visited Mainpat Tibetan settlement on 10 May and promised to provide financial assistance to the Tibetan students, jobs for local Tibetans and metalled roads linking all seven Tibetan refugee camps.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that he had great admiration for the chief minister for paying such surprise visits adding “People in rural areas constitute the majority, who are in general economically and educationally disadvantaged, and need special attention from the government.”
