New Delhi, May 12–The Dalai Lama will be in the hometown of Tibet’s old friend Heinrich Harrer, who passed away this January. The newly formed Tibetan Centre and province of Carinthia invited the Dalai Lama who will be in the Hüttenberg for three days starting tommorow.
The Dalai Lama will inaugurate the International Centre for Higher Tibetan Studies in Hüttenberg.
Harrer was the main force behind establishing the centre. According to a press release of the Geneva based Office of Tibet, the centre will teach Tibetan Buddhism, medicine and other fields of education.
The centre is made possible through the participation and support of the state, province and municipality. The Dalai Lama will address a gathering which will be attended by Vice Chancellor Hubert Gorbach, Health Minister Maria Rauch Kallat, Justice Minister Karin Gastinger and Economic Minister Dr. Martin Bartestein. The Carinthia provincial government will be represented by a sic member delegation headed by Governor Jorg Haider.
The Dalai Lama will also visit the grave of his old friend Heinrich Harrer to pay tribute.
