Dalai Lama visits Argentina

Buenos Aires, May 1 – Tibetan Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama continued his tour of South America with a stop in Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires.

“My belief is, transformation of human society, not by leaders, not by governments, but by the public from grass roots,” the Dalai Lama told a packed room of journalists and supporters at a news conference at the Sheraton Hotel.

The Dalai Lama will be delivering lectures on wisdom and compassion and science and spirituality during his tour.

The spiritual leader will also participate in a dialogue on Health and Spirituality, and in an inter-religious Prayer for Peace.

The Dalai Lama will be in Buenos Aires until May 2 when he will depart for Santiago in Chile.

From Santiago, the Dalai Lama will leave for Lima, the capital of Peru, where he will spend three days prior to concluding his South American tour in Bogota, Colombia.

The Dalai Lama is the leader of the movement for Tibetan independence from China who invaded the Himalayan mountain nation in 1959.

The Dalai Lama has been living in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959.
