The Hindu, which proclaims itself to be “India’s National Newspaper” , has betrayed Indian people and our Tibetan friends by endorsing a fake “Panchen Lama” as true 11the Panchen Lama.The Hindu , in its 14 April edition , has published a news from China, where a person “Gyaincain Norbu(Gyaltsen Norbu) ” whose status as 11 Panchen Lama is not yet acknowledged by The Highest authority in Tibetan Buddhism His Holiness The Dalai Lama, has been illustrated as 11the Panchen lama.

On 14 may,1995, The Dalai Lama had recongnized and announced six year old “Gedhun choekyi Nyima” as 11the Panchen Lama, following an elaborate search and confirmation process as per Buddhist tradition.The search for the late Panchen Lama’s reincarnation is purely a religious matter and traditionally it involves a final selection process by The Dalai Lama.
Most Tibetans do not accept “Gyaincain Norbu(Gyaltsen Norbu)” as the legitimate 11the Panchen Lama because he is not approved by The Dalai Lama.This person, who is being propogated by China as 11the Panchen Lama, was appointed by People’s Republic of China as 11the Panchen lama soon after The Dalai Lama had announced Gedhun choekyi Nyima as 11the Panchen Lama.Three days after the anouncement , Gedhun Choeki Nyima and his family disappeared from their home and their whereabouts and well-beings still remains unknown.Since then Tibetan People, across the globe, remember his beloved 11the Panchen Lama as”The Stolen Child Of Tibet”.
It is regrettable and unfortunate that a respectable and responsible Indian newspaper “The Hindu” has endorsed an illigal 11the Panchen Lama who was appointed so, in total defiance of His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s supreme authority in the spiritual affairs of Tibet.
Chinese government , since the nomination of “Gyaincain (Gyaltsen) Norbu as 11 Panchen Lama, has used him to sustain Chinese propoganda over Tibet . World Buddhist Forum, being organised in Hangzhou(China) is just another chinese tactic to make people believe in that chinese Panchen Lama.By organising such religious events, where Tibetan Spiritual leaders are asked to pass comments in favour of China, China is trying to misguide the people across the world.
The Hindu has also reported Gyaltsen Norbu passing some comments in favour of China::::::
“All the three Buddhist sects are worshiped in China and the Buddhist belief enjoys a favourable environment in the country, the Panchen Lama said. ”
“Noting that defending the nation and working for the people is a solemn commitment Buddhism has made to the nation and society, he urged all Buddhists to shoulder the historical responsibility.”
Apart from endorsing a chinese Panchen Lama, The Hindu’s reporting has tried to misinform people about 10the Panchen Lama’s critial attitude towards Chinese Regime as illustrated in his petition to China , later on published as” A poisoned Arrow”.The Hindu reported :
“Praising his predecessor the 10th Panchen Lama as having made “great contribution” to national unification and unity, the 17-year-old living Buddha urged the country’s Buddhists to carry the tradition of safeguarding the country and benefiting the people. ”
I condemn the role of The Hindu in helping Chinese Government in its efforts to harm and distort Tibetan Buddhism and I call upon Indian people to criticise such biased and mischievous reporting by The Hindu.
