Varanasi, February 7 – A RED carpet welcome was accorded to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalia Lama who arrived here at Sarnath, about 7 kilometres from the city, on Monday evening.
He is scheduled to chair a programme ‘Dialogue Between Indian Philosophical Traditions’ to be organised at the Central Institute of Tibetan Studies on February 7.
The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to participate in a seminar ‘The Four Traditional Tibetan Buddhist Philosophical Schools’ on February 8.
This will be followed by a three-day international conference titled ‘Buddhism in Asia: Challenges and Prospects’ from February 10 to 12, an official release said.
The Tibetan spiritual leader landed at Babatpur airport at 4.35 PM in a private airliner and was straightaway driven to Sarnath under tight security.
He reached Sarnath at 5.30 PM and was accorded a warm reception by the students of the Central Institute of Tibetan Studies.
