following is a letter sent to us by the makers of the film ‘Dreaming lhasa’

Dear Editor

Thank you for including a report in today’s edition of phayul.com about the recent screening of our film, Dreaming Lhasa, at the India Habitat Centre.

However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting that I would like to clarify.

Please note that we do not have a censor problem. After due consideration, the Central Board of Film Certification of the Government of India issued the film a U/A censor certificate on 12 December 2005, prior to the film’s screening at the International Film Festival of Kerala. I should also add that this is the first time a Tibetan film has received a censor certificate from the Government of India. There is therefore no question of any pressure being applied to prevent the screening of the film at Spice PVR in Noida next week.

Also, for your information, the directive to ban the showing of smoking on screen has not yet come into effect, and has no bearing on our film as we have already received the censor certificate.

I would be grateful if you could set the record straight.

Sincerely,

Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam
Directors, Dreaming Lhasa
