JERUSALEM – Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will pay a week-long visit to Israel in February, a spokeswoman for Ben Gurion University said on Sunday.
“The Dalai Lama is expected in the middle of February for a week-long visit, which will include the launch of ceremonies marking 100 years since (David) Ben Gurion immigrated to Israel,” Estie Pollak said, referring to the Zionist leader who declared Israel an independent state in 1948 and became its first prime minister.
A programme for the Dalai Lama’s visit would be announced nearer the time, she added.
According to a report on Ynet, website of the Yediot Aharonot daily, the spiritual leader is due to visit Ben Gurion’s tomb in the southern Negev desert town of Sde Boker. He will also give several lectures on the virtues of tolerance as well as meet Israeli officials.
